THM Verses of Vision

She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens. (Proverbs 31:15)

She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. (Proverbs 31:17)

She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. (Proverbs 31:27)

These three verse seems to sum it up for me. The Lord is calling me to a place of action. I am the Proverbs 31 women. She is a part of the "new creation" in me ( 2Corn. 5:17). Even when I  live as a different women, I am only living a lie because the truth of who I really am is in the verses above.  Time to start living out this part of the new creation in me.  Thank you Jesus that this and more are true of me through who you are and what you've done for me.

Time to go order some goodies to help make this happen.

Sometimes life happens

I guess the title says it all.  Our Christmas plans where turned upside down when my husbands great grandfather had a heart attack. We rushed out of town the friday before Christmas and didn't return home until Christmas Eve. Then we both had the stomach flu Christmas Day. I am very thankful for my sister who was here to help with the kids.  Now I am in the pick up the pieces, regroup mode.  I know I have to start this journey soon or I may not start at all.  So here is my short to do list.

1. Order stevia, gluccie, and whey
2. Make next weeks grocery list with on plan foods in mind. (nix pasta, bagels, ect)
3. Pick a start date and stick to it.
4. Find one bible verse to use as an anchor for this journey and post it on the fridge.

That list should probably be inverted to reflect importance.
One day at a time, one step at a time, one meal at a day, for the rest ofmy life.

Getting Started

I have finished the first section of the book, Yay!

I started reading through the recipes today and am feeling overwhelmed.  There is so much information and I am reading in less the optimal enviroments for concentration. So I have decided I need a plan of attack. Some steps to take, outlined on a list where they can be checked off and referred back to easily. Checking things off list is very encouraging and motivating for me.

I have decided to take a cork board I have and make it the THM headquaters in the house.  This is the place where I can keep a list of my goals, shopping list, wish list (for things that would help with the plan but which we can't afford right away), price comparison list, menus, some encouraging scriptures, my implementation plan and many other things for sure.

Since I have two very little ones, and a house that is a diaster I am going to give myself one week to get this up. I will post a pic when its done.

One step at a time, one meal at a time, one day at a time for the rest of my life.

Pre plan food journel..

So here is todays foods:

Everything Bagel with butter and orange juice
Wild Rice with chicken breast and Italian Dressing and parmasean cheese
Chocolate milk from raw milk and Nequick powder
Chicken breast sandwich with sundried tomatoe pesto and provolone, 1 pancake, fries with ketchup   and a pepsi.
I snacked on a few curtons throughout the day.

Yep I know its terrible but I am almost through the first third of the book. Can't wait to finnish this Thirsty Mama chapter because the orange juice and pepsi aren't helping me one bit.

Today I have settled that I am a drive thru Sue with a dash of whole grain Jane, who wishes she had the resources to be a farm fresh Tess and doesn't understand raw green Colleen. Its ok though because soon enough I will be a Trim Healthy Mama.

The sugar monster

I am now working my way through the book. Its a little overwhelming. The sheer size of the printed material was surprising. I won't be implementing the plan til I am all the way through the book. Its a personality thing. I need all the pieces of information or I know I will become frustrated and unmotivated.

Today I had a reminder why I am doing this. First thing this morning I had an oatmeal, chocolate chunk cookie for breakfast. My twenty month old had one too along with his other breakfast. I know, terrible mom, right? But its hard to tell him no when I am doing it. I had two more later and he had one more before nap. He woke up from nap hyped to the ceiling, while I was dragging like I had been up all night and then some.

Thank you sugar monster for dragging mommy down and amping little guy up. That's exactly what I wanted for the afternoon. *insert scarcasm here*

This is my public declaration that the Sugar Monster's days are numbered in our house.

Stay tuned tomorrow as I shamelessly share my food journal for the day. I think it will be helpful to be honest about where I am before the plan so I can rejoice all the more about the grace God is going to give for the plan.

It's Here!

I came home last night from a meeting, to a clean living room and an early Christmas present. :)

This is why I love my husband. He is not usually one for early Christmas presents but he knows how eager I am to start this journey.

And so it begins with my family supporting me all the way.

I haven't received my copy of Trim Healthy Mama yet (its on the top of my Christmas list) but I hope to really soon. I have been following the book on Facebook and have been amazed at the testimonies, pictures, and faithful shepherding by Pearl and Serene. I started this blog to share my story, struggles, and progress. I hope to be able to look back a year from now and finally be proud of accomplishing my goals.

So here is a little about me:

I am a 26 year old mother of two.  An almost 20 month old wide open little boy and an almost 4 month old precious princess. They are a week shy of 16 months apart. When I became pregnant with my first I weighed 189 lbs, about 30 lbs heavier than I want or need to be. Six months later I became pregnant again at 195 lbs. Now almost 4 months postpartum I am somewhere around 215lbs. I will have been married 3 years in June to my wonderful husband who does not struggle with his weight. He works very long physical hours to support us an allow me to stay home. He is so supportive of me and has never judged the lack of nutritional knowledge I brought into our marriage. As you can see, I am very blessed. :)

I am starting this journey because I don't want my children to struggle with thier weight and because I want to be the mom her kids love because she can keep up with them and play.

Here are my goals:

1. Fit back into my size 16 wedding dress. Its the most beautiful dress I have ever owned. I want to wear it again for one of our upcoming anniversaries.

2. Reach a healthy BMI.

3. Wiegh between 165 - 150lbs. I was 165 after my freshman year of college and looked pretty good. I do not have a small frame (too much Dutch in my family) so 150 will be a challenge an ultimately may not look right on me.

4. Exercise 5 days a week by June.

5. Train for and sucessfully run a 5k in before I am 28.

I may add more goals along the way but ultimately I want to be healthy and find my forever trim.
